Convenient for you, your family & Schools.

When a referral comes from a family, we provide 1:1 support for children and young people who are requiring some extra support for emotional wellbeing.  We work with your child on an appointment based system and where possible at a time and place that works for them.  This can be either at school, during the school day or at our clinic after school. The idea of us seeing your child within school is that this reduces the time taken out of your child’s education and ensures you and your family have minimal disruption to your daily routine.

Group sessions

We deliver after school group sessions with up to 4 children per session.  The children would be grouped accordingly with their needs.  The group is an hour and will be similar structure of an individual session.  We provide feedback from these groups every three weeks to parents. The children will all learn tools and techniques to manage and also understand they are not alone with their thoughts and feelings. By being part of a small group it helps them to feel like they are not alone with how they are feeling.

A minimum of 6 weeks booking is required for this class.

Schools

Schools can now refer their pupils to us and we will work on an individual basis or small groups of up to 4 children. A minimum of 6 weeks is required for these. Please contact us for more information.

Providing The Tools

Calm Little Minds provides a package of resources & strategies for children and families so that they can work together to get through the difficult times. With the correct tools and practice, your child can take responsibility for their actions and with your support, help them when they are struggling.  Throughout the sessions they will learn self-help skills to influence their reactions and reduce their behaviours that are causing them distress.

Assessment & Approach

Following the receipt of your referral, We will contact you for an initial assessment. This assessment is with the parents without your child present.  These take place at our clinics in High Wycombe, Towcester or over Zoom.

The chargeable assessment is up to an hour and we use this time to discuss your child in detail. The assessment provides us with all the information we require before starting work with your child.  From this will will inform you of how best we can support your child.

Sessions

Whilst we suggest six weekly sessions works well, we are flexible on this and you can have more or less, dependant on what works for you. We will also advise as we go, as to whether we feel your child requires additional sessions.

We work with your child for 45 minutes per session and we provide feedback to yourselves every 2 weeks.  The sessions not only provide strategies to encourage and support positive outcomes, they are also a time for us to unpick what has gone on for the child and what has triggered their behaviour.

The 1:1 session is a safe space for your child and a time for them to talk openly and honestly about how they are feeling. Whilst we respect each child and their confidentiality, we have a duty of care to follow the safeguarding procedure should anything arise.

If we agree to seeing your child within school, we require you to set up the communication with this, as this provides the consent to school for us to work with your child.

Payment

Our sessions are chargeable per session – please see the fees section.  On agreement with the session bookings, we will send you an invoice and a contract.  We expect the contract to be returned and the payment to be sent before the first session with your child.

If your child is unwell and unable to attend a session, we require as much notice as possible.  Whilst we know this can not always be helped, we will do our best to reschedule an appointment with you, but if we have not been notified with enough time then the session will be chargeable.  Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

Group sessions

If your child is attending the group session classes, fees and Terms and Conditions still apply. If they miss a class then this will not be refunded or carried over as we have a weekly programme that we are following.

Schools

If a child is unable to attend a session that is booked in, please do provide us with as much notice as possible, the same as above applies, if we can carry the session over we will but this is not always possible. If the children are part of group sessions then the session they do not attend is chargeable and is counted as a missed session.
